That’s a sneak peek of the first ever Whimseybox Gift Guide! It’s going out in the November boxes that are all packed and shipping out tomorrow along with some other fun goodies. (Want a copy? Leave a comment, I’ll send you one!) Last week we also launched our Whimseybox Holiday Page with our brand new gift cards (yay!), a limited edition collection of DIY ornament mini-kits and lots of other gift ideas for the creatives in your life. I’d love, love, love it if you check it out! We’ve been thinking about the holidays for quite a while – it’s a big time for retail in general, and especially for craft/DIY – but it still freaks me out how quickly it’s coming! We’ve put a lot of work into it already – in addition to adding gift cards we’ve also added the ability to ship shop orders to someone else (pretty standard nowadays, but we didn’t have it before now!), schedule delivery of an email gift (super handy) and choose different shipping options.
Plus last Thursday night we co-hosted a holiday card making drive with the awesome ladies of Share Denver to make 250 cards for the clients of Boulder Meals of Wheels. (I was seriously amazed and the creativity of everyone who came! You can read more about it on the Whimseybox blog.) And on December 5th we’ll be hosting a DIY station at Eat Drink Create. Hope to see you there!
So there’s a lot of holiday happenings going on right now. I’ve also been tasked with sourcing all of the supplies for my family’s annual holiday ornament making project, so stay tuned to see what we’re creating this year. It’s a Kenney tradition to make a new ornament each year and for the first time in a few years I’m looking forward to being able to do it in person with my mom and sister this Thankgiving.
… is mine, I think. Seriously so in love with the board I’m working on this month for Martha Stewart Living sometimes I just stare at it. It’s the only thing putting me in a holiday mood when it’s all sunny and 70’s outside around here and I’m too busy/lazy to put up the tree and I did all of my Christmas shopping in one big Amazon session.
Dude, I am guest pinning for Martha Stewart Living this month. It’s only been a day so far and I have to admit I’m feeling a little drunk with power. Mostly because I just started pinning as @aliciadirago a little while ago (remember the dinosaur problem?) so as of yesterday I had a whopping 83 followers. (!!) So you can imagine I didn’t get many likes or repins whenever I posted something.
Until now. Pin something on the Martha Stewart Living board and I get instant likes and repins on every post! So fun There are a few other guest pinners as well, including Whimseybox’s own Ashley. Here’s her board. Hope you’ll follow along with us!
Last week I learned something obvious: people who are shopping right after Thanksgiving do NOT want you to immediately email the recipient of their gift. Up until now, that’s how we’ve handled gift subscriptions for Whimseybox: you buy the subscription and then we email the recipient with instructions for setting up their account. While that might work okay for most of the year, it doesn’t right now. And really, it’s obvious to me now, but as a person who is often shopping rather last minute (ahem) the email delivery is usually my best option! Ha.
So last week we overhauled our entire gift process on Whimseybox. Now when you buy someone a Whimseybox subscription we’ll give you the choice of emailing them immediately or having us send a paper gift certificate. We can either send the certificate to you give to them or directly to them. I had some fun this weekend going crazy with washi tape decorating our new certificates
Give the gift of Whimseybox this year!
How is your holiday shopping coming along? So far I’ve made a list of everyone to buy for but that’s about it!
The moment I saw this Tuft dress I knew I wanted to turn it into a giftwrap DIY. Last week Ashley did it and posted it on Whimseybox along with a bunch of other giftwrap ideas to dress up your holiday. Fun, right?
