A MAGIC Recap

WWD-J-BJ-BLOGGERS-760

I’m back from MAGIC in Las Vegas and yes, we got to meet Betsy Johnson! It was an incredibly fun and busy couple of days. I teamed up with Jenni and Kristen to lead DIY projects on the Concourse in WWDMAGIC. We did it twice a day and each day was a different project.

Look, we even got our own sign! On Monday we made leather business card holders, Tuesday we did a DIY suede and chain bracelet (check out Jenni’s great pictures at that link) and on Wednesday we made feather earrings which I hear will be in Jenni’s book coming out in April.  You can also find more information about the feather earrings project in Kristen’s post.

We were popular! This was the chain bracelet project and we ran out of materials in the afternoon because everyone wanted one! Sidenote: After a bit of debate I decided to leave my DSLR at home this trip so these are all cell phone pics :/ But it was for a good cause because I crammed all of the tools and materials for the projects into my two suitcases and still managed to keep it under 97lbs so it was free on Southwest! (The TSA inspected my bags each way, though. I guess they don’t usually see a suitcase full of mallets and pliers and rope and chain…)

Here I’m demonstrating the bracelet. My nails were popular- they are Sally Hanson Mod About You! I also had the opportunity to speak on a panel in the Teen Vogue lounge one day about blog to business.

The next day Jenni, Kristen and I all did a DIY demo- mine were these tribal-inspired bangles. Stay tuned for the full instructions.

All that, plus about 2 million square feet of clothes, shoes and accessories to explore. I’ll be back soon to talk about some of the best things I saw!

April Showers and The Week That Was – April 1, 2011

(source)

Some weeks you’ve got it, and some weeks you remake the same necklace three different ways and still hate it. This week was solidly in the latter category *until* yesterday afternoon when my plan to recover some throw pillows for the bedroom turned into a skirt. A cute one! It needs one final detail before I share it, but let me say that stripes are involved. Do you ever have weeks like this?
