Such a fun idea, and less than $50 in most cases. If this landed at DWR you’d have to mortgage your house! What a steal. Tons of other designs (like owls + penguins!) at the mostlikelyshop. via
Etsy has been running a series of posts this holiday where they have invited contributes to curate a collection of holiday gifts that they like. So far they have featured Real Simple, West Elm, Thrillist, A Cup of Jo, Modcloth, You Are My Fave, Poppytalk and a bunch of others. I think my invite must have gotten lost in the (e)mail so I’ve decided to share mine here. And I totally cribbed their style just for fun.
Hi, I’m Alicia, writer of this blog right here, founder of Whimseybox, Houston, TX resident and Homeland addict. While most of what catches my eye lately is black, white or neutral, the holidays have me ready to kick it up a teeny notch. Metallics, and gold in particular, are like fancy neutrals. And black always adds drama! So black and gold it is this year. (Btw, this doesn’t mean I’m trading my Bears jersey for a Saints shirt. Never! It just means that black and gold are prettier than blue and orange.)
So here are some of my recent favorites on Etsy. Maybe you’ll find a gift idea to help you finish your holiday shopping! (Of course, I’m assuming you’ve already bought everyone on your list a Whimseybox subscription already
My friend Wes send along his friend Maggie’s new Etsy shop Clavado last week. Reclaimed wood, brightly colored string, geometric shapes? Right up my alley! I’m partial to the Chicago-themed one but you can custom order any place you like. Plus they are crazy affordable, everything in the shop is under $50.
A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the Etsy shop Geometric Land, so I thought I’d show you my order. One of the tricky things about buying jewelry components online is that it’s often hard to really understand the scale. I’m often looking back and forth between my screen and a tape measure and then squinting my eyes and trying to imagine how it will look in person. Anyway, I’m really happy these pieces. They have niece weight to them and I love the brass color. (The beads look super gold in this picture, but they’re not.)
A close-up of the triangles.
And the tubes. I can’t wait to string some bright-colored cord through there! Finished projects to come soon, I hope!
