Loving: Creative Geniuses

There are a few cool, creative things that I wanted to share. Normally they would have gone in last week’s The Week That Was, but that post never happened because I was furiously editing Make Is The New Buy. (Speaking of MITNB – check out the short bonus clip from my talk with Carly that I posted this morning.) So, here’s some awesome stuff that’s been living in my browser tabs all weekend.

My Life In Graphs

So, My Life In Graphs is the most genius thing ever. A few years ago I bought a book that was all lists that you could make about yourself but this is even better because, duh, infographics! (Do you love inforgraphics too? I hope you are following Information is Beautiful. Also, have you seen Nicholas Felton’s annual reports? His site is down right now, but here’s an article that the NYT did about it. Amazing!) [via Design Crush]

Pushcakes

I vote for pushcakes as the new cupcake/macaroon/cake pop/whatever the trendy dessert is right now. And apparently you can buy the bases on Etsy to make your own. Wish I’d seen this before my niece SJ’s first birthday party a few weeks ago! [via The Mildly Interesting Adventures of Emma]

Magnets

Someday everyone is going to be totally sick of washi tape, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. Here’s how to make some DIY washi tape magnets. But it’s interesting that they are pictured on a stainless steel fridge which isn’t usually magnetic. At least mine isn’t… but it if was it would definitely have some of these DIY tiny Polaroid magnets on it. [via The Mildly Interesting Adventures of Emma and Creature Comforts]

Taxes

Did you get your taxes filed yesterday? I’m thankful for my husband who made sure we finished ours last week. (Were it up to me I would have been Googling the address of the post office that was open until midnight yesterday.) This paper sculpture by Nava Lubelski uses tax returns documents and takes quilling to a whole new level. Talk about turning lemons into lemonade… [via Mint]

  1. I am really enjoying the theme/design of your blog.
Do you ever run into any browser compatibility
issues? A few of my blog audience have complained about my blog
not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Safari.
Do you have any suggestions to help fix this problem?
