I have a new crafty endeavor! Katie of The Caged Yarn is teaching a knitting class here in Houston that started last night. We spent about an hour being baffled and frustrated but I think I’m starting to get the hang of it, at least casting on and knitting which is as far as we got. I get such a thrill out of trying new things + can’t wait until next week. Do you knit? If so please leave me your best tips in the comments!
She was really well-prepared- isn’t it a welcoming classroom!

I will!
I love knitting… so cathartic. Have fun!
That part must come after you get over the initial clumsy frustration, right?
I love watching bad TV and knitting. My favorite project has been simple wide scarves with stitched up ends to make a DIY snood/infinity scarf. So cozy!
You’re going to love it! There are so many goodies you can make knitting and it’s so rewarding
And I agree with erin – watching bad tv marathons makes the perfect combination

Then it’s the perfect hobby for me because I love bad TV
You will love it. I love knitting. I recommend you learn how to use circulars asap; you can do a lot (I’m a crazy hat-maker) and they make great gifts.
And yes, to the TV–stream a million episodes of something awesome on Netflix and go to work. I’ve made a hat in one sitting while watching a football game. I can’t wait to see pics of your finished projects!
It’s a 6 week class and we are going to learn circular- I have the needles already!
Hey
The class looks fun. I have been knitting since I was six and my advice to everyone is make sure you understand how you cast on, knit, purl, and end a project- then have fun discovering the multitude of techniques that are out there! Also I find that radio and knitting are perfect companions.
So far I know two of those four things… I’m sure I’ll learn the others soon!
