DIY Source: Bering’s Hardware & Gifts

I’ll give you the bad news first: Bering’s only has stores in Houston, TX.  I hope you have a store this awesome near you, and if not you can always order online!

Going to the hardware store for DIY inspiration and supplies is nothing new, but a trip to Bering’s takes it to a level that Lowe’s could never match. Somehow they manage to have so much more in much less space- it’s a modern day General Store. And somehow, despite being located mere steps from Michael’s, it took me over a year of living in Houston to check it out. A year!

The store has basically everything (all-natural cleaners! fancy candles! kid’s clothes! barbecues! a parrot!) but my pictures are mostly focused on the cool DIY stuff in the hardware section. Well, except  for these cookie cutters which could be for kitchen or craft, right?

I’m really really into metal lately and this selection OBLITERATES what I’ve found at big box stores.

So many choices! If you can’t get to Berings, I’d look up a K&S Metals retailer near you.

AND FOILS?!

It’s not all metals, though. There’s also wood and stencils.

And lots of chain- I love the selection of ball chain.

Plus tons of rope, cord and cable and larger chains.

Large rolls of screen, plastic and cork!

Does this picture even need a description? I mean, when was the last time you found a pair of purple cowboy boot wellies at Home Depot?

And you can get a treat on your way out! Do you have a store like this in your area? Where do you find DIY supplies besides craft stores?

BEST.BLOG.POST.EVER! I want to leave it at that because that is all that is needed to be said, but seriously, awesome sauce. It wasn’t until I began my Jewelry line and exploring alternate materials, that I found a love for hardware stores. But this place is ‘da bomb and makes me want to travel to Houston. Thank you for sharing.
