Curiosity Inspiration

Late last night NASA landed the Curiosity rover on Mars, and this morning Lish posted “My new goal in life? To always be as happy as the NASA EDL team watching Curiosity land on Mars.No kidding! But wow, they deserve it. That thing traveled through space for 8 months, and then was lowered to surface via a giant parachute and rocket powered sky crane (that is a real thing!!). It’s a ridiculously amazing accomplishment and I’m so inspired by the hard work and dedication of these scientists.

“You take what Mars gives you,” said Squyres, also the lead scientist on the Mars Exploration Rover Mission, which includes Spirit and Opportunity. “If we knew what we were going to find, it wouldn’t be this much fun.”
