Looking for adventure? Here’s one you should definitely consider – Craftcation!

I’ll be there speaking and teaching alongside awesome creatives like Creativebug founder Jeanne Lewis, Paper ‘N Stitch’s Brittni Melhoff, The Crafty Chica Cathy Cano-Murillo, Craftypod’s Diane Gilleland, knitwear design extraordiane Anne Kuo Lukito and many others. The conference is being held March 21 – 24th in Ventura, CA  which sounds like an awesome location that I can’t wait to check out.

The best part is that I got to meet the organizers, Delilah + Nicole, at Alt Summit a few weeks ago and they described Craftcation as “if Maker Faire and Alt Summit had a baby”. They also promised late night PJ dance parties. I can’t wait! Here’s the full info:

Alt Memories

I’m sure the blogosphere is bursting with Alt recaps this week. (As it should be, because Alt was awesome!) But I got home Sunday night after 9 days away and haven’t so much as peeked inside my Google Reader yet. There’s just too much going on right now. However, my dear friend Linnea just sent this cute picture from one evening in the room when we Bri, Rachel and I took a break to watch some Bad Lip Reading. (How did I not know about that before!?!)

Here’s Alt in bullet points:

  • Go.
  • The “business cards” situation is out of effing control there. Next year I’m threading my business cards onto a silk ribbon and tying them onto puppies and handing them out. THAT is how you win at Alt.
  • One of the highlights for me was Stefan Sagmeister’s keynote. So inspiring.
  • The Grand America hotel was a first-rate venue and downtown Salt Lake City was cute + walkable. I enjoyed both more than I expected.
  • I LOVED meeting + talking with everyone all weekend. Can’t wait to do it again at Craftcation coming up in March (described to me as “if Alt and Maker Faire had a baby, it would be Craftcation!”) and at future Alt events as well.

I’ll break it down DIY Biz-style in an upcoming post soon, too.

Adios 2012! A Video Tribute

This is basically a Myspace-2006-era-style slideshow of my year. Remember those? (Why doesn’t Facebook make that stuff as easy at Myspace did? But I’m glad they killed my ability to auto-play music when you came to my page. My songs were awesome, but everyone else’s SUCKED!)

2012 was a pretty kick ass year. I’ll remember it fondly, and look forward to topping it in 2013. See you there!

The music is Lucky Now by Ryan Adams, selected because it’s my husband’s alarm clock song and I hear it every morning. And because we’re pretty lucky now :)

Guest Pinning at Martha Stewart Living

Dude, I am guest pinning for Martha Stewart Living this month. It’s only been a day so far and I have to admit I’m feeling a little drunk with power. Mostly because I just started pinning as @aliciadirago a little while ago (remember the dinosaur problem?) so as of yesterday I had a whopping 83 followers. (!!) So you can imagine I didn’t get many likes or repins whenever I posted something.

Until now. Pin something on the Martha Stewart Living board and I get instant likes and repins on every post! So fun Smile There are a few other guest pinners as well, including Whimseybox’s own Ashley. Here’s her board.  Hope you’ll follow along with us!
