An Extra Large DIY Project

I’m about three months into my adventure with Whimseybox and it’s already quite a ride. Unfortunately it’s kept me from writing and DIYing regularly here this week because we just shipped our largest batch of boxes yet. Extra thanks to my husband, Bri and especially my sister (aka Tasty J) for helping cut, fold, sticker, pack, box and label all of these while she was visiting during her Spring Break. And for keeping me sane when the post office didn’t come to pick them up until 7pm at night! (Who knew they worked that late!? And they were so awesome and nice, so thanks to them too.)

Less than a month until we do it all again…….! I’ve been thinking of trying to write here a little more about the behind-the-scenes of Whimseybox. It’s quite a rollercoaster and I’m working sooooo hard to make it into the amazing business I know it can be. Anyone interested in entrepreneurship or hearing that kind of story?

Btw, tonight’s the Whimseybox craft meetup. If you are in Houston (or can get here in the next 4 hours) I hope to see you there!

Also, what do you guys think about Fashion Star? I hate it so much Sad smile

  1. I’d love to hear the story – it’s a great concept! I could do without a lot of Fashion Star’s antics but it’s interesting to see the stores talk about why they did/didn’t buy and I always like seeing designer clothes!

Thanks Stephanie. I do agree, listening to the buyers is the highlight of the show. I just wish there was more about the process and less flashy runway show and music.

  2. Yay! My box is somewhere in there! The best thing (besides the goodies inside, of course) is that every time my Whimseybox arrives I have somehow completely forgotten about it and it is such a surprise that it completely makes my day! Thanks a million for this awesome service! :)

And yes, I studied Entrepreneurship in undergrad AND grad school and would love to hear more about your process!

Just posted a comment but it didn’t show up. For some reason this always happens when I post comments on your posts. :( Taking out my website to see if that helps?

Anyway I’m so excited for my box! Somehow I always end up forgetting about it and then when it is delivered it is such a surprise!

Would definitely love to hear your entrepreneurial story! Always inspiring to hear about other successes!

Yup……for some reason I think my website makes my comments go to spam. Has happened on other sites too. Annoying!

    • Alicia says:

You’re right, I just checked and found it in the Spam. I marked it as not spam so hopefully in the future it will work properly. Thanks for letting me know! And thanks for the kind words about Whimseybox- that’s exactly how we want people to feel when they get a box!!

I am so proud of you and Whimsybox Alicia!! I’d love to here more about the entrepreneurial efforts behind Whimseybox, and would gladly help you come fill the boxes if you ever need it sometimes. I wish I’d known about the meetup tonight; I must attend the next one!

I can’t wait for my box! I was hopeful today and so excited since my mail came 3 hours early, but no such luck.

I had never heard of Fashion Star before. Which isn’t surprising, since fashion is something I don’t much care about. Er, I mean, I have my own sense of fashion! Right?
